Common questions

A scanner found nothing — does that mean the room is clean?

No. Argus narrows down where to look; it cannot prove a room is free of surveillance devices. A hidden camera that is switched off, wired to its own network, or shielded from the phone's sensors will not show up. Use several scanners together and treat the results as a starting point for a physical check.

The Wi-Fi scanner shows no devices

On iOS this is almost always the Local Network permission. Open Settings → Argus → Local Network and turn it on, then scan again. iOS only asks for this permission once, so if it was declined earlier the app cannot ask again.

The Wi-Fi scanner cannot read my network name

Reading the Wi-Fi network name requires Location access with Precise Location enabled — that is an iOS rule, not our choice. Argus never stores or transmits your location. Check Settings → Argus → Location.

The camera scanner does not detect reflections

It is designed for a dark room: turn the lights off, switch the torch on in the app, and hold the phone 10–30 cm from the surface you are checking. In a brightly lit room the detector deliberately stays quiet, because bright rooms produce constant false alarms.

The magnet scanner reads high everywhere

Phone magnetometers are affected by nearby metal and magnets, and the reading can stay high after you pass a large metal object. Move away from metal, then start a new scan so the app recalibrates.

Managing your subscription

Argus Pro is an auto-renewable subscription billed through your Apple Account. To view, change or cancel it, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Cancelling stops future renewals; the subscription stays active until the end of the paid period.

If you subscribed before on the same Apple Account, use Restore Purchases in the app's settings rather than paying again.

Refunds

Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple rather than by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Write to us as well if something went wrong — it helps us fix it.

Privacy

Scans run on your device. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is processed and what leaves the device, and the Terms of Use for the subscription terms.
